Manji

A widowed garage owner argues with his son and deals with his wife's death in this patchy film. The mood changes from brooding angst to nervous breakdown to camp Bollywood musical (by far the best!). The moody bits only highlight the predictable, uninspired dialogue with the son, reminding you that, for some reason, it really doesn't work.

Some picturesque moments in the film hint at good ideas and the linking of the beginning and end works effectively. There may be better things to come once writer/director Rene Mohandas gets over his cliched conversations.
